THE ROUTE. WHAT TO SEE IN CAMERON HIGHLANDS

ADVICES

– We got private transportation from Ipoh to get Cameron Highlands, it is also possible to get the excursion with all included.

– Booked the excursion at 1.45pm of the Tea Plantations directly in the city of Tanah Rata.

– Before starting our excursion, we got ourselves the Bharat Tea Plantation, one of most beautiful ones! Also we had lunch around Tanah Rata.

– We did hitchhiking from Bharat to Tanah Rata.

– The Tea Plantations excursion has a price of around 50MYR per person with 4 hours duration, starting at 8.45am and at 1.45pm daily.

– It includes jeep transportation visiting the Tea Plantations, a Tea Factory, the Mossy Forest and Insects Farm.

– Bring at least a light coat as the temperatures are fresher than rest of Malaysia.

– Cameron Highlands is composed by massive tea plantations and the leading producing flower in Malaysia and is located around 1.500 meters above sea level.

– The name comes from William Cameron, a British surveyor of the colonial government.

– It’s home of hundred species rare at the tropics, also a difference ecosystem.

– There are some cities around and Tanah Rata is the administrative one where you can find through banks, restaurantes, shops, travel agencies, etc.

It is the picture below and it was not included in the excursion and we came by ourselves. We moved from here by hitchhiking.

DINNER IN IPOH

LocalYummy FoodMarket !!

Here we haven’t found tourists and yes we have found delicious food, with great prices. This is Woolleys Food City, located in Ipoh Garden.

ADVICES

– Ipoh is a great city to be based in order to visit Cameron Highlands.

– We got Woolleys by Uber, which works well in Malaysia.

– Find the less tourists places to get the most real experience, and the bestt prices!

– Ipoh is the capital of the state of Perak.

– Located 200km north of Kuala Lumpur it has a population of around 700.000 people.

– Ipoh is well known for its great cuisine.

– The varied gastronomy is due because of the large Chinese population and we can also find Malay and Indian. – There are several food markets as Ipoh Garden, Woolleys, Gerai Makan Hoi Teen and Dai San Yen.

 

THE HOSTEL IN IPOH

Sleeping in Containers?

Yes! One of best hostels of the trip and ever visited. Excellent to have your own space. Pillow and mattress were super comfortable. Chill out place. It is located in heart of Ipoh, state of Perak.

– By booking it by Hostelword with the flexible fare (1€ extra) you can cancel the reservation days in advance.

– We got here by Uber, which is working great in Malaysia.

– There is a little shop just next where they have a bit of everything, perfect for get some snacks for breakfast.

– Total price of 222MYR ( around 44€) for 2 nights and 3 people, which means around 7.3€ per person per night.

– Breakfast is not included and the hostel is well equipped.

– The beds are very comfortable and restroom excellent.
