Best areas to walk around and find bars and fun.

  • Plaza 2 de Mayo (Malasaña)
  • Plaza San Ildefonso (Malasaña)
  • Plaza de los Carros (La Latina)
  • Ponzano (Chamberí)

 

BARS

For beers and food:

  • 100 montaditos, typical place where you have one hundreds of different little sandwiches and cheap beer for around 1 euro.
  • El Tigre, where you order a beer for 2,5€ and they give you included many many food! (I use to go this one in Calle de las Infantas 23)
  • Museo del jamon, here is more kinda restaurant where you can try all typical food from Spain as “tortilla de patata, pan tumaca, jamon serrano, chorizo, paella, calamares, etc..”
  • Mercado de San Miguel, market style with typical Spanish products, the former market that has now places to buy food and eat standing near the food carts.
  • Mercado San Ildefonso, where you can find every kind of food located right in Fuencarral Street.
  • Bodega La Ardosa, one of best “tortilla de patata” of Madrid.
  • Sobrino de Botin, traditional cuisine for good oven meats like pork, lamb, etc.
  • Platea, and old theater where is possible to find evey kind of food.
  • Taqueria Mi Ciudad, mexican restaurent with good prices and delicious food.
  • Casa Corona, wonderful terrace open during summer time where sometimes is live music.
  • Freeway, more to have beers and snacks.
  • Cafeteria Oskar, to eat good burgers.
  • Tierra Burrito Bar, one of the best burritos of the city.
  • Los Torreznos Bar, good price for good price and try torreznos.
  • Cerveceria Oldenburg, to find beer from everywhere around the world.
  • Juana la Loca, to get some tapas and great tortilla de patata of different flavours.
  • El Viajero, beers and tapas, at night some music atop.

To see sunset and the amazing sky of Madrid!

  • Circulo de Bellas Artes, you have to pay around 3€ to go up, then a beer atop is around 5€. It´s one of my favorites places in Madrid.
  • Hotel Oscar, in chueca area, where you have a panoramic view of the city center.
  • Palacio de Cibeles, very nice place looking at Cibeles Fountain, where Real Madrid celebrate trophies.
  • Picalagartos, located in Gran Via with a nice environment and great views.
