DAY 5 – DOWNTOWN, WYNWOOD AND LITTLE HAVANA – MIAMI

It was our last day in Miami and we wanted to take advantage of our remaining time and visit all these places:

  • Bayside Marketplace
  • Freedom Tower
  • Wynwood Walls
  • Ocean Drive
  • Little Havana

We moved by walking and by Uber, which prices are fine and we were without so much time. (Uber is really developed with many drivers around and good fares)

Constructed in 1925 as a home for The Miami News, the Freedom Tower was modeled after the Giralda Cathedral Bell Tower in Seville, Spain. Between 1962 and 1974 the building was used an immigration station for refugees from Cuba. Striking in its architectural detail with its octagonal tower and richly ornamented facade, it remains one of South Florida’s most distinctive historic buildings.

2.30pm – Bayside Marketplace

Here you can enjoy the big buildings, the bayside, the port and the walk of fame.

3.00pm – Electric Car Tour

«Advice» There are little white electric cars making a little tour, FOR FREE! You can find them around the Bayside Marketplace. The little tour lasts around 30 minutes and they play some music during the ride. After that we gave a tip to the driver, it was an excellent choice! Those same cars you may find them around Miami Beach, bringing you for free to some places. I didn’t get them here but check it out! ; )

4.00pm – Wynwood Walls

Wynwood Walls where it has brought the world’s greatest artists working in the graffiti and street art genre to Miami.

The best is to lose yourself by walking from graffiti to graffiti, they are real pieces of art!

5.30pm – Ocean Drive

A last walk along Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, which is famous for its art decó buildings, cars and bars.

6.30pm – Little Havana

We got an Uber to get the airport and we asked the driver to stop for a short visit in Little Havana, it was really worth it!

We wanted to see so much the domino park, where all the Cubans gather to play domino and talk about politics, economic and life things. Unfortunately was closed at 6pm, so check previously the schedule.

• Domino Park, also known as Maximo Gomez Park, is a landmark in Little Havana and marks the gathering place for the older Cuban culture in Miami as a place to go and play a game or two with friends. At all hours of the day you can find local retired residents playing a game of dominos as well as chess and checkers under shaded pavilions while drinking Cuban coffee and discussing Cuban politics The park is located on the corner of SW 8th Street, Calle Ocho, and 15th Avenue next to the Tower Theater and is open from 9AM – 6PM daily •????• ➖➖➖➖➖ #worldtraveler #worldtravelpics #traveltheworld #travelwriter #travelblog #instatravel #instago #passportready #travelblogger #instatravelling #instavacation #igglobalclub #traveladdict #postcardsfromtheworld #traveldeeper #travelling #traveltheworld #wanderlusting #instago #travelpics #wanderer #travelingram #travelphotography #aroundtheworld #blogger #ig_worldclub #worldcaptures #worldplaces ➖➖➖➖➖

Then we speak with some Cubans, very nice people!

We walked around the area and we enjoyed seeing the typical cars and ambience, also we were speaking with some old Cubans, they were complaining about the closing times of the Dominos Park.

9.30pm – Flight from Miami to Puerto Rico

We depart from Miami at 9.34pm and we arrived to San Juan at 12.13am.

«Accomodation» We got Airbnb for one night as the next day was joining us 2 more friends. We got a really normal place but well located and good price. The price was 41 dollars for 2 people for 1 night (which means around 20 euros per person per night)
